As every year, Google Play selected their best apps. This year they cut down their top app ranking from about 60 apps in 2014 to 48 apps in 2015. Unfortunately, it is not mentioned by Google according to which criteria these apps were chosen.
Nevertheless, what is very interesting concerning Google’s top 48 apps 2015, is the fact that the list reaches from relatively “young” apps like for example Bring! to already well-known sellers like Google Photos or Skype. The top apps also spread through all app and game categories, both free and paid. However, what all apps have in common is that they have at least a 4-star rating.
Based on Google Play Store’s Top 48 Ranking, we decided to choose our very own favorite Android apps of 2015. We selected the two most interesting apps each for 4 app-categories, which were:

Bring! Shopping List
Bring! is a very lovely and practical app created in Switzerland. The app represents a smart and sharable shopping list. It provides a very simple and easy-to-use user interface so that you can use it very efficiently in your daily life.
WPS Office is the most downloaded free office app for Android devices. It allows you to view almost any document types on your phone and therefore is a good alternative to Microsoft Office apps as you only need one app to open PDF, TXT, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel files. A very nice app for all-day productivity – thumbs up.
My very hungry caterpillar
This is a very gorgeous app suitable for small children and inspired by the popular children’s book “The very hungry caterpillar”. Kids interactively can play with and take care of their caterpillar. The app thereby is designed very intuitive and suitable for children
Share the Meal
This UN donation app produces downloads for good cause. It has the aim to help starving children around the world. Donations can be made directly and very easy within the app by registering with PayPal or credit card. The app itself however is free.
Colorfy – Coloring Book
Colorfy was ranked by Google as #1 App of 2015 and is placed in the category of Fun Games For Free and Entertainment. Colorfy provides you with some lovely coloring pictures for young and old. It is very easy to use and targets the therapeutic and relaxing aspect of coloring pictures. A charming app for both kids and grown-ups.
A very nice app which allows you to read the lyrics of a song you are just hearing at the moment. Musixmatch thereby automatically recognizes the song played locally on your device at Spotify or on another device. Alternatively you can also switch from Musixmatch to Youtube or Spotify to hear / see your recognized song in full version.
komoot already was amongst the winners of 2014 and is an app perfect for people who love to go hiking, cycling or mountain biking. The app provides you with tips and navigation to places you might like to visit near you. Within the app you can create your own profile and can plan, track or mark tours as favorites. Also suitable for people who are not the fittest as you can choose your fitness level before searching for tours. All in all, very useful app.
The popular app for all “selfie” lovers or hobby photographers. Retrica allows you to apply filters onto your photos directly when you take the picture. It provides you with a number of modern image-filters and supports direct sharing to social media channels like Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
